The 9th China International Petroleum Trade Conference, sponsored by the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, the National Energy Administration and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, was held in Shanghai on November 8. Assistant Minister of Commerce Ren Hongbin delivered a keynote speech. Shang Yuying, deputy secretary general of The Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and leaders of major domestic oil companies attended and addressed the conference. Colombian Ambassador to China Luis Monsalve attended the conference. Wu Zhengping, Secretary for Foreign Trade Development, Ministry of Commerce, presided over the meeting.

Ren said that the China International Petroleum Trade Conference is to take concrete actions to implement President Xi Jinping's concept of opening up and cooperation, further strengthen industry exchanges, enhance mutual benefit and win-win results, and build a bigger bridge and open up a broader market for the oil and gas industry at home and abroad. In the face of severe fluctuations in the global oil and gas market, the Chinese government has taken a series of strong measures to ensure the stability of the oil and gas industry and supply chain, and the growth of oil and gas imports against the trend. With concrete actions, the Chinese government has made important contributions to maintaining the stability of the global energy market and promoting the recovery of the global economy.

Ren stressed that the Chinese government will unswervingly deepen reform and open wider to the outside world, constantly stimulate new drivers of development in the oil and gas sector, actively expand new space for opening up and development in the oil and gas sector, and strive to build a new development pattern featuring mutual promotion of domestic and international double cycles in the oil and gas sector, so as to jointly promote the sustainable development of global energy.

China International Petroleum Trade Conference is an important supporting activity of China International Import Expo. The conference adopted an online and offline approach, with nearly 600 participants (150 on site) from government departments of 15 countries and regions, world-famous oil companies, trade and shipping companies, financial and information institutions, and academic research institutions. The conference will set up four sections, namely, the opening ceremony, keynote speech, thematic discussion and supporting activities, as well as the establishment of a publicity booth and the integration of exhibition.
