8874.4 m! Sinopec Set Another Record For The Deepest Directional Well On Land in Asia

On October 23, according to the Information Office of Sinopec, the drilling depth of The Shunbei oil and Gas Field, which is owned by the Northwest Oil Field Branch of SINOPEC, was set a new record again: the drilling depth of The Shunbei 53-2H well was 8,874.4 meters, surpassing the drilling depth of The Shunbei 55X well completed in July this year, which was 8,725 meters, and set a new record for the deepest directional well on land in Asia, marking China's international leading in ultra-deep well drilling technology.

The average depth of the ultra-deep fractured solution reservoir in The Shunbei oil and Gas Field is over 7,600 meters, and the geological structure is complex. The development is confronted with such world-class problems as poor formation drillability, high bottomhole temperature, easy well loss and well collapse.

Since this year, the Northwest Oil Field Branch has deepened the concept of geological engineering integration, integrated the application of ultra-deep horizontal well drilling technology, continued to optimize the project management, and carried out the action of making breakthroughs in efficiency. The shunbei 53-2H well was drilled 20 days ahead of the design cycle.

It is reported that the Northwest Oil Field Branch has drilled nearly 40 super deep Wells over 8,000 meters in the Shunbei oil and gas field, effectively promoting the high-quality and efficient development of Asia's deepest oil and gas field.
