Venezuela Announces Gradual Normalization of Gasoline Supplies

Venezuela will gradually "normalize" its gasoline supply from next week, resuming operations at more than 1,500 gas stations across the country, Oil Minister Isaimi said Tuesday.

Aissami said at a press conference on the same day, Venezuela will start the gasoline supply normalization plan on The 5th. According to the plan, starting From The 5th, the commission will adopt a policy of rotating fuel supply according to the tail number of vehicles to avoid long queues at petrol stations.

Mr Aissami also said Venezuela was working to establish a mechanism of co-operation with members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) to ensure the supply of additives and consumables needed for refining and to strengthen domestic refining capacity.

Venezuela has been unable to import supplies needed for the operation of its refineries because of the United States' comprehensive sanctions and blockade of its economy and oil industry. Since March, there has been a serious shortfall in the country's gasoline supply. Recently, Iran has repeatedly supplied Venezuela with gasoline and consumables for refineries to alleviate its gasoline shortage.
