High yield oil flow or large and medium-sized condensate fields were discovered in the east of The South China Sea
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has announced a major discovery in huizhou 26-6 in the eastern part of the South China Sea, which is expected to become the first large and medium-sized condensate field in the shallow water of the Pearl River Estuary Basin.
The huizhou 26-6 structure, located in the Huizhou Depression in the Zhujiang Estuary Basin in the eastern part of the South China Sea, has an average depth of about 113 meters, according to the announcement. Discovery well HZ26-6-1 was drilled to a depth of 4,276 meters, and the reservoir was drilled to a thickness of about 422.2 meters. According to the test, the average daily output of the well is about 2,020 barrels of crude oil and 15.36 million cubic feet of natural gas.
Cnooc said the successful exploration of huizhou 26-6 oil-bearing structures is the company's first commercial high-yielding oil flow in the new field of buried hill in the eastern part of the South China Sea, marking a major breakthrough in the exploration of paleogene and buried hill complex reservoirs in the Pearl River Mouth Basin and showing great prospects in the field.
