Petrobras has set a new record for a single day's production at an oil field
Brazil's petrobras said its four offshore floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSO) produced a record 664,000 barrels of oil in a single day at the Buzius field in which Chinese oil companies are involved.
FPSO is the mainstream production facility for the development of offshore oil and gas fields. It is capable of preliminary processing, storage and export of offshore crude oil and gas. It is a comprehensive large-scale offshore oil and gas production base integrating personnel residence and production command system.
The Buzius field is located in the Santos Basin off the coast of Rio DE Janeiro, about 210 kilometers from downtown Rio DE Janeiro. According to Petrobras, Buzius is the world's largest deepwater field with huge reserves, low risk and low cost.
Petrobras, China National Petroleum Corporation (petrochina) and China Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) won the Buzius field in a Brazilian government auction in November. In the consortium, Bashi shares 90 per cent, petrochina and CNOOC each accounted for 5 per cent.
