Exxonmobil is preparing to relaunch its UK North Sea operations
Sinopec News June 15, 2020 - According to the voice of Energy on June 12, a news report said that the US oil giant ExxonMobil is gearing up to resume the sale of its UK North Sea business.
Exxon has held talks with potential buyers about its portfolio in recent weeks, Reuters said, citing industry and banking sources.
But if the talks fail to establish a firm interest in the assets, the company is unlikely to formally start the sale process, According to Reuters.
Exxon will cut its asking price from more than $2 billion to $1 billion to $1.5 billion in light of the market crash, sources told Reuters.
Exxonmobil has interests in about 40 active offshore fields in the North Sea.
A large portion of these fields are operated by Shell as part of joint operations.
Bloomberg reported in January that ExxonMobil was working with jefferies Financial Group, an investment bank, on divestments.
