The U.S. National Hurricane Center says tropical Storm Cristobal has made landfall along the southeastern coast of Louisiana.

The U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement says 34.3 percent of oil production in the Gulf of Mexico was shut down because of the tropical storm.

As of Sunday, U.S. energy companies had closed 185 platforms and three RIGS in the Gulf of Mexico due to the storm, the U.S. offshore oil regulator said. The Gulf of Mexico has 635, 000 barrels of oil and 878 million cubic feet of natural gas affected by the storm.
