Hungary Will Buy 250 Million Cubic Meters of American Gas A Year
Hungary has signed a gas supply contract with shell to buy 250 million cubic meters of gas a year from the United States for six years, Hungarian foreign minister PeterSzijjarto said on social media on Sept. 16.
Mr. Sialto, who was in Washington for talks with U.S. Energy Secretary James Bruyette, said a new phase is in store for Hungarian gas supplies starting next year.
Mr Sialto stressed that the LNG terminal in Croatia would provide Hungary with 10 per cent of its total annual gas consumption. Hungary has agreed a long-term gas supply contract with Shell, which will supply Hungary with 250 million cubic meters of gas a year for the next six years.
Meanwhile, Hungary has connected its gas network to that of six of its seven neighbours.
Mr Siarto said it was vital to diversify Hungary's gas supply as far as possible and that Russia was currently its only supplier.
