Iran's VICE President: The United States has failed to stop Iranian oil exports
Sputniknews reported July 5 that Iran's first Vice President Jahangiri said that despite U.S. efforts to completely block Iranian oil exports, Washington has failed.
"Oil is the main source of revenue for Iran, and Iranian oil is under severe sanctions," said Jahangiri. Under earlier sanctions, Iran's oil exports were capped at 1 million barrels a day. Now the U.S. is saying that Iranian oil exports should go to zero, but fortunately, the U.S. plan has fallen through."
Iran is working on measures to reduce its dependence on oil exports. President Rouhani stressed that U.S. sanctions would be less effective if Iran's economy was less dependent on oil exports. Rouhani said in mid-February that for the first time in Tehran's history, it was no longer dominated by oil extraction.
Iran is building a new pipeline from the Gullah oil terminal in bushehr province in the south to the Jask port in the Gulf of Oman in the east, creating a new route beyond the Strait of Hormuz. The pipeline could carry up to one million barrels of oil a day. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
