Chesapeake Energy, an American shale-oil pioneer, may file for bankruptcy this week

 
Chesapeake Energy Corp. is preparing to file for bankruptcy protection as early as this week, becoming the largest oil and gas producer to go bankrupt because of the covid-19 outbreak, according to people familiar with the matter. The company is in the final stages of talks over about $900m in bankruptcy financing to keep it afloat during its restructuring.
