A new oil and gas field has been discovered in Egypt's western desert
Egypt's Arabian oil company (BorgAlArabPetroleumCompany) has announced a new oil and gas resources found in Egypt's western desert region. The new field, located in the oil-rich AbuSennan concession, is currently scheduled to produce 4,100 barrels of crude oil and 18 million cubic feet of natural gas a day, the company said in a statement.
Borg Arab Oil Company is a joint venture between EgyptPetroleum corporation and EgyptKuwait Energy Corporation, which owns the Absenan concession in the western desert.
In late 2019, the company announced an oil and gas discovery in the Absenan Ash-2 area, producing an average of 7,000 barrels of crude oil and 10 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Egypt's oil and gas production rose 7 percent in 2019, producing 650,000 barrels of crude oil and 7.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, according to the latest figures from the Egyptian Oil Ministry.
Egypt is rich in oil and gas. Discovered in 2015 by Italian oil giant Eni, its giant offshore Field in the Mediterranean, The Tizul Gas Field now produces 2.7 billion cubic feet of gas a day.
