Qatar's energy minister and chief executive of qatar's oil company (QP) OffshoreEnergy reported on may 25. Al-Carbi (Saad al-Kaabi) said the country's plan to raise LNG capacity to 126 million tonnes a year could boost additional production.
Qatar Petroleum is currently working on the first phase of an expansion project in the northern oil and gas field, which will increase domestic LNG production capacity from 77 million tons per year to 110 million tons by 2025. By 2027, the second phase of the project will add 16 million tons of capacity.
Saad Al-Qatar Business Council (U.s-Qatar Business Council) organized a live webcast Thursday, said :" We are working hard to expand the North Oil Field ." The final onshore commercial tender for the expansion project will be closed by September and the contract will be awarded by the end of the year.
Large global energy companies have been hit hard by falling demand, cutting spending and output. QP won't cut lng exports as demand wanes, but it will cut spending, mr. kabi said. QP will cut capital and operating expenses by 30% in June.
He said that as a "low-cost producer ", QP able to withstand lower gas prices, the company is not considering reducing production. In fact, if possible, the company will expand production, and production may even exceed the planned 126 million tons per year.
