Exploration cooperation between Petro Malaysia and ExxonMobil in Suriname

According to foreign media news on may 19, malaysia's national oil company Petronas will cooperate with exxon mobil to explore oil and gas in surinam coastal block 52.

The transfer of 50 per cent of its right to participate in block 52 to ExxonMobil for exploration and exploitation of Suriname was completed through its subsidiary, Matsuo Suriname. Block 52 is located north of the coast of Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname.

Block 52, covering 4749 square kilometers, is between 50 meters and 1100 meters deep in the promising Suriname-Guyanese basin, where several major oil and gas deposits have recently been discovered, Ma said in a statement Tuesday.

Ma said that the upcoming exploration activities in block 52 would include drilling an oil well in the third quarter of 2020, in addition to using the latest technology to obtain new three D of seismic data, which will cover the entire region to further assess the potential of the region.
