Surface Junk Catcher
Recover debris during cleaning operations
The Sharp Razor surface junk catcher captures falling debris not circulated out of the hole when riser, blowout preventer (BOP), and wellhead areas are cleaned. It is normally run in a dedicated trip with the BOP jet sub and riser brush. The tool can be used during scheduled BOP tests or when retrieving a wear bushing to prevent debris from being introduced in the wellbore.
The surface junk catcher can be run below the BOP jet sub. Throughout the jetting and cleaning process, any heavier particles of debris that cannot be circulated out of the hole are caught in the integrated boot basket when falling down the hole. A brush assembly with 360° coverage above the boot basket diverts falling debris into the boot. The catcher’s large debris capacity
is easily extended with minor modifications. Once at surface, the debris can be conveniently removed at rig floor.
